Open Classes at Columbus Dance Theatre

Columbus Dance Theatre offers a wide variety of adult open classes for dancers of all experience levels, from those taking their first class to experienced dancers continuing their training. Classes are available on a drop-in basis and must be reserved at least 24 hours in advance. Payment can be completed online when registering or in person when you arrive at the studio.

For added flexibility, 10-class and 20-class passes are available and may be used for eligible adult open classes throughout the year. Class passes never expire, allowing you to train on your own schedule while enjoying a reduced per-class rate.

Fall 2026/27 Open Adult Classes

We’re offering a wide variety of Open Adult Classes this year, ranging from beginner to advanced. All adult and company offered this year are on a drop-in basis. Please see the schedule below or in the attached PDF. Come dance with us! 

Drop-In Class Options:

• Mondays

  • Open Adult Sampler Class

    • 7:15-8:15pm, Bexley location (1039 College Avenue)

    • $14/class, please book 24 hours in advance

      • A fun and welcoming class that explores a variety of dance styles, alternating between ballet, jazz, contemporary, and hip-hop. This class is perfect for beginners looking to try different styles or dancers with some experience who want to expand their movement skills, build confidence, and enjoy a well-rounded dance experience.

  • Open Adult Beginning Ballet

    • 7:00-8:15pm, DT location (592 E. Main Street)

    • $15/class, please book 24 hours in advance

      • A welcoming introduction to ballet fundamentals, focusing on basic positions, alignment, terminology, barre exercises, and center work. Perfect for adults new to ballet or returning after a break.

• Wednesdays

  • Open Adult Intermediate/Advanced Ballet

    • 7:30-9:00pm, DT location (592 E. Main Street)

    • $16/class, please book 24 hours in advance

      • A faster-paced ballet class designed for experienced dancers looking to maintain and refine their technique, strength, musicality, and artistry.

  • Open Adult Absolute Beginner Ballet

    • 10:00-11:30am, DT location (592 E. Main Street)

    • $16/class, please book 24 hours in advance

      • Have you always wanted to try ballet but never had the opportunity? This class is designed specifically for adults with no dance experience. Learn the foundations of ballet, including basic positions, terminology, posture, and movement in a supportive and encouraging environment.   • Open Adult Graham Based Modern

    • 6:00-7:15pm, DT location (592 E. Main Street)

    • $15/class, please book 24 hours in advance

      • A modern technique class influenced by Martha Graham’s movement principles, focusing on contraction/release, breath and strength.

• Saturdays

  • Strength/Conditioning Class

    • 9:30-10:30am, DT location (592 E. Main Street)

    • $14/class

      • A movement-based class designed to improve strength, flexibility, balance, and body awareness to support dancers in all styles.
